A tool for turning bowls on a foot-powered lathe isn't something that you can buy at the store. I have forged a couple, but this is by far my best yet. I splurged and bought some O-1 drill rod which should be enough for me to make about three tools from. That works out to roughly $3 per tool - not bad! My other hooks have been made from mild steel that I had on hand. Worked OK, but needed constant sharpening and never came close to being as sharp as this little guy. This hook has the bevel on the outside, which makes it easier to control in my opinion.
It is fitted to a piece of walnut branch for a handle.
